The Angsana Council was part of various discussions envisioning ASEAN’s tech-enabled growth across various ASEAN meetings, particularly at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and side events, and a dinner we hosted on 3 September.
The dinner involved around 20 stakeholders from across the innovation and technology sectors, and also from thought leaders on these topics. Attendees reflected their ambitions for the regional economy which included:
- Improving the digital ecosystem so that more of society is included and have access to economic mobility;
- Businesses playing a stronger role in opening up opportunities for communities outside of city centers and minority communities including women.
- Rationalizing the regulatory ecosystem to support ease of doing business; and
- Strengthening basic infrastructure including access to digital connection and education.
Similar themes were carried through at side meetings at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum. It was another round of meaningful discussions across the week in Jakarta- where old bonds were refreshed and new ones made.
