Angsana Council appoints Doris Magsaysay Ho to Facilitate Dialogues with Southeast Asia Advocates to Aid Growth of Businesses in the Region

The Angsana Council, a non-profit group that advocates for Southeast Asia’s growth potential, has announced the appointment of Doris Magsaysay Ho as its newest member today. As the Chairman and CEO of the A. Magsaysay, Inc., a leading maritime and logistics company in the Philippines, Ms. Ho has made significant contributions to the growth story for the Philippines and  the region, as a business leader and philanthropist.

The addition of Ms. Ho strengthens the Council’s mission to shift the world’s attention to the region by engaging in dialogues with entrepreneurs, business and thought leaders, and policymakers who can impact the region’s steady growth by raising investment levels, promoting entrepreneurial activity, and supporting growth-friendly policies. Her appointment is a fitting induction to the Council’s board of members, an esteemed group that has worked extensively in the diverse spheres of business, government, education and community service.

The Angsana Council’s current members include Charles Ormiston (Founding Partner, Southeast Asia, Bain & Company),  Peng T. Ong (Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Monk’s Hill Ventures), Gita Wirjawan (Former Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia; Educator and Entrepreneur), and George Yeo (Former Singapore Cabinet Minister; Visiting Scholar at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and National University of Singapore).

“I am elated to join the Angsana Council and its mission to drive conversations towards building  the region’s uncharted potential. I have always believed that more collaborative efforts among business people and those in civil society and government  in Southeast Asia, can lead to an immeasurable  impact for the region. Working alongside this set of distinguished, most prominent and vocal champions for Southeast Asia is a great privilege,” said Ms. Ho.

Ms. Ho is a Trustee of the Asia Society, the US-Philippines Society, and other business and not-for-profit organizations. She represented the Philippines in the APEC Business Advisory Council and the PECC-ABAC Joint Task Force on International Labour Mobility,  enabling her to promote her vision of a worldwide system that benefits both the sending and receiving economies, in an era where countries are experiencing talent shortages.

“Doris Ho is a tremendous addition to the Angsana Council, bringing her highly complementary experience and knowledge to advance our advocacy for Southeast Asia’s growth. Her leadership and commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, coupled with extensive experience in the business sector is unrivaled,” said Susli Lie, Partner at Monk’s Hill Ventures. “The Council is confident that her insights will be invaluable in promoting entrepreneurial spirit and investment in the region. We are delighted to welcome Doris to the Angsana Council.”
